Film: The Kings Speech

Showings at 1:30 and 7 p.m.

Nominated for 12 Academy Awards
and winner of four, including Best Picture,
Best Actor (Colin Firth), Best Director
(Tom Hooper) and Best Original Screenplay
(David Seidler) this runaway winner
also co-stars Geoffrey Rush and Helena
Bonham Carter.
The film tells the story of King George VI, father of
the present Queen Elizabeth, who became King after his
brother renounced the crown in favor of marrying an
American commoner, Wallace Simpson.
George had been plagued by a dreadful stammer, thus
being considered unfit to be King. Aided by the help of
an unorthodox speech therapist, Lionel Logue
(Rush) and the loving support of his wife (Bonham),
“Bertie” is able to find his voice and boldly lead his
country through its wartime trials. PG-13 118 min.
