Hurricane and Emergency Preparedness Forum

is hosting a Hurricane and Emergency Preparedness Forum on Thursday, August 26 at 7:00pm at the, 2279 Merrick Avenue, Merrick to discuss how you can prepare in the event of an emergency. In attendance will be the Nassau County Office of Emergency Management, the town of Hempstead Public Safety Commission and the Nassau County American Red Cross.

At this Forum, whether bracing for a hurricane or any other natural disaster, there are many precautions that can be taken to ensure that residents remain safe and who to call for assistance. Having a plan ahead of time is the key to survival.

"Hazards come in many forms, such as storm surges, high winds, flooding and tornadoes. Being aware of your surrounds and using common sense can avoid catastrophes, that is why I am hosting this Forum and urging all residents to attend," said Assemblyman McDonough.
