Kiss Me Kate @ Calhoun High School

Come see the Calhoun On Tour Company’s production of Kiss Me, Kate! Music and lyrics by Cole Porter and book by Sam and Bella Spewack. This delightful musical comedy is a play-within-a-play in which offstage egos become onstage problems. During a touring musical rendition of William Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, the egotistical performer/director Fred Graham is reunited with his volatile ex-wife, Lilli Vanessi, when they play the leading roles of Petruchio and Kate. Meanwhile, the only thing keeping the show together are threats from a pair of comical gangsters who have come to collect a gambling debt from Bill Calhoun, who is struggling to keep his romance alive with Lois Lane. Performances are March 24, 30, and 31 at the Calhoun High School auditorium (1786 State Street, Merrick). Performances start at 7:30 and reservations can be made by calling (516) 992-1377. Tickets are $10 for students and seniors and $12 for adults. Don’t miss “another op’nin’ of another show”!
