The North and Central Merrick Civic Association is showing the film“Blue Gold-World Water Wars” on Thursday, May 24th @ 7 pm at the North Merrick Library, 1691 Meadowbrook Road. Wars of the future will be fought over water as they are over oil today, as the source of human survival enters the global marketplace and political arena. This award winning documentary examines the problems created by the privatization and commoditization of water.
The NCMCA invites Sarah Meyland, Director of the Center for Water Resources Management at NYIT, to discuss Long Island’s pollution, overuse and waste of our drinking water and need for an Aquifer Management Agency to help solve problems affecting both counties, including sewage treatment, water waste, stormwater management and groundwater cleanup.
All are welcome to attend.
