Visit Amish Country-a land and culture frozen in time. A step-on guide will take you through the area’s farms, windmills, covered bridges and horse-drawn carriages that have seen little change since the Amish settled here 300 years ago. This tight knit group believes in hard work, simplicity, no electricity and a Biblical life free of material and commercial goods. Many families own farms and work together on their land-others work in local retail with little con- tact with outside life.
Your on-bus narrated tour will take you through sprawling farmlands along roads with the traditional buggies. You’ll pass through many tiny towns with quaint names like Bird-In-Hand, Blue Ball, and Para- dise-homes to bountiful farmers’ markets, antique shops, freshly picked tomatoes and handmade quilts for sale at roadside stands. Your all-you-can-eat lunch will be at the barn-sized smorgasbord at Shady Maple, where you’ll enjoy a vast variety of choices. We’ll stop at the ever-popular Kitchen Kettle for some more shopping before heading home. Registration begins Friday, September 9th. A check for $68.00, payable to McCarney Tours is due at this time. We’ll enjoy a movie on the bus as we head home.
