- The family of a slain Hempstead man says that it's time to get tough on crime. Santos Valeriano Argueta, 49, was shot on January 30 near the intersection of Peninsula Boulevard and Sewell Street. Sources say that Argueta was dining at a restaurant when he tried to stop a robbery at a nearby business and was fatally shot. He leaves behind eight brothers. (News 12 Long Island)
- Touch bases with Rockville Centre's historic Golden Reef Diner via an article by Alan Krawitz at the Long Island Press. The restaurant celebrates a scratch-made menu and nearly 100 years of business. - Get more details about the Westbury Dunkin' Donuts robbery, which occurred on Thursday, February 3, according to The Westbury Times. Robbery Squad detectives say the suspect pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded cash, then fled on foot.
