UNIONDALE, NY — A Hempstead teenager has been arrested for assaulting two classmates at Uniondale High School.

The student, who was not named by police because she is underage, got into an argument with a 17- and an 18-year-old female student while in the hallway on Monday morning, authorities said.

As the argument escalated, the defendant punched and displayed a utility knife at the 17-year-old victim, police said.

The victim was cut on her left ring finger. The 18-year-old victim attempted to break up the fight and suffered a cut on the left cheek.

School security and teachers were able to calm down the situation until police arrived.

The victims were treated on the scene. The knife was recovered.

The defendant is charged was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. She was arraigned at the First District Court Youth Section in Hempstead.
