Five things to do around town during the weekend.

It’s Thursday and you are looking to plan your weekend. Relaxation, celebration or something in-between, Patch has you covered so that you can make the most of your oh-so-short weekend.

 

1.    Pit Stop “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” Viewing Party

Where/when: Owner Tony Rubano invites fans to his second restaurant, Wildfish, at 517 Guy Lombardo Ave in Freeport on Feb. 11th at 8 p.m. to watch the re-run of Merrick’s Pit Stop on Food Network’s hit show “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.” The Merrick eatery made its debut on the Jan. 31 episode.

Why go: Not every town has a Food Network star and to be able to celebrate with Rubano, his wife Carolyn and his son Brad is an experience in its own right.

Pricing: Special offers that night will include music, dancing, hors d'oeuvres and happy hour pricing on drinks.

 

2.    Dial “M” for Murder

Where/when: The play opens on Feb. 12 at Merrick Theatre and Center for the Arts, 2222 Hewlett Avenue, Merrick.

Why go: The drama would make for a perfect date night, starting at 8:30 p.m. The play will continue through March 6, with performances at 8:30 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 3 p.m. on Sundays.

Pricing: Regular and Saturday admission is $20. Seniors and students are admitted for $16 on Fridays and Sundays.

 

3.    Seal Cruise

Where/when: Captain Lou’s fleet is offering a seal cruise. Boarding starts at 12:30 p.m. and the ship leaves from the Nautical Mile in neighboring Freeport.

Why go: An event that the family can do together, Marine biologists will be on board to talk to you and your kids about the behavior of seals and other marine wildlife. A good time and a science lesson all in one.

Pricing: $24 for adults; $19 for children ages 3 to 12.

 

4.    A Relaxing Massage

Where/when: Massage Envy in Merrick is offering an introductory massage special. Since it’s Valentine’s Day weekend, call about the couples rooms.

Why go: Head to Massage Envy to melt away the stress that may be still hanging on from the holidays, while your spouse can relax while easing the back pain he’s had from all of the shoveling he’s been doing.

Pricing: $49 for an hour massage.

 

5.    Art Reception

Where/when: Merrick Library, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 13.

Why go: With the football season over and baseball season yet to begin, Sunday becomes the designated down day. In case you get bored but want to do something low-key, the Merrick Library will be displaying artwork in a reception hosted by Nat Watson.
