Here are the top five stories in Merrick today:

  1. A hit-and-run accident in Elmont seriously injured a 65-year-old man Sunday night. Police say the victim was attempting to cross at the intersection of Linden Boulevard at 237th Street when a tow truck hit him, severing his leg. Police later identified the driver as Ibrahim Elfiqi, 20, of Queens, and took him into custody. (Newsday; subscription required)
  2. Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a Flower Hill Citibank at gunpoint on Saturday. Click over to the article at Rutherford Daily Voice for a description of the culprit and learn how to report possible sightings.
  3. The Spring Craft Beer Festival is coming back to Long Island on March 26. Head over to the Nassau Coliseum for brews from local, national and international labels as well as ciders and hard seltzers. (LongIsland.com)
