Homeless Man In Custody For Stealing Car: Police

MERRICK, NY — A homeless man was arrested just after midnight on Thursday in Merrick, Nassau police said.

Ivan Guitierrez-Alcantar, 20, was taken into custody after officers responded to a call for a stolen vehicle from a Rosebud Avenue residence, detectives said.

While canvassing the area, officers located a vehicle that fit the description.

Guitierrez-Alcantar was stopped on the Meadowbrook Parkway near Sunrise Highway. He was charged with two counts of grand larceny and three counts of criminal possession of stolen property. He was due to be arraigned on Thursday, according to police.
