LaClaustra, Rosenblum Named Calhoun Athletes of the Month
The Calhoun Sports Boosters honor soccer players Andrew LaClaustra and Ellie Rosenblum.
Calhoun's soccer teams have been dominant all season long and the Calhoun Sports Boosters recognized a player from each team as the September Athlete of the Month at its meeting on Monday.
Congratulations to both Andrew LaClaustra and Ellie Rosenblum on receiving the honor. Here is info on both athletes provided by the Sports Boosters:
Male Athlete of the Month: Andrew LaClaustra

Andrew is a senior and a leader of the boys varsity soccer team at Calhoun. His experience and ability have helped the team play with confidence and composure and the team is off to a great start, with a record of 5-1-3, currently in second place.
Andrew has only let up four goals in the team's first nine games and registered seven shutouts, which ranks him second among Nassau County goalies.

A member of Student Council/Class of 2011 Club, Andrew is hoping to continue his soccer career at either Mercy College or Stony Brook, where he plans to study physical therapy or sports medicine.
Female Athlete of the Month: Ellie Rosenblum
Ellie has been a strong player for the girls varsity soccer team at Calhoun since 10th grade. Now a senior, her improvement this season has been remarkable, particularly in light of having taken on a new position (left-midfield).
Ellie's performance has been exceptional in every game. She is a well-rounded athlete and great leader on the field. A member of the National Honor Society, SADD and the Wind Ensemble, Ellie also plays varsity basketball and lacrosse.
Her goal is to play lacrosse in college, where she plans to study pre-veterinarian medicine.
