Liberty Water Invests $265 Million In Last 5 Years For Infrastructure

In the past year, the Merrick-based utility company replaced more than 30,000 feet of water mains throughout Nassau County.

MERRICK, NY — Liberty New York Water has announced that in the past year, the utility company has replaced more than 30,000 feet of water mains.

Liberty also replaced 500 service connections and over 2,300 meters, while installing 10 new fire hydrants.

"We continuously look for ways to improve reliability and quality, build resiliency, and find innovative solutions that allow us to better serve our customers. The infrastructure improvements and upgrades we’ve made in the last five years are prime examples of that commitment,” Chris Alario, President, Liberty New York Water, said.

This year, Liberty will start work on a 6 million-gallon-per-day Advanced Oxidation Process plant for removal of 1,4-Dioxane at the Seaman's Treatment Plant in Levittown.

In Mill Neck, we have completed a new treatment facility that will provide safe, easy access for operation, be protected against tidal flooding, and continue to have a natural gas emergency generator.

They also completed a new water supply well at the Newbridge Road Treatment Plant in North Bellmore, while Liberty is building an iron removal facility at the Charles Street plant in Merrick.

In the past five years, we’ve invested more than $265 million in infrastructure improvements for residents.

"We can assure customers that we are meeting and exceeding the newest regulations and investing the resources needed to do that," said Brenda Wall, Director of Operations. "We work diligently to ensure we provide safe and reliable water to all customers, and this is a responsibility and commitment we are very proud to make."
