Local Businesses Find Glamorous Way to Fight Breast Cancer
Dakota Design Center puts on a fashion show event to raise money for The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition.
It was a glamorous night to say the least on Thursday when residents of Merrick, Bellmore and beyond filled the showrooms of Dakota Design Center for a charity event to help raise money for The Long Island Breast Cancer Action Coalition.
The doors opened at 7 p.m. for a cocktail hour filled with glasses of pinot grigio and decadent catered foods from Left Coast Kitchen, such as shrimp cocktail, lobster bread, artichokes, Swedish meatballs and more.
As music by Jilly Live played throughout the night, models in beautiful couture gowns walked around before really strutting their stuff during the fashion show.

“Tonight is a collaborated event from a few Merrick and Bellmore based businesses and we do a few events each year,” said Dakota Designs event coordinator, Randi Satnick. “We like to pair them with fundraisers and 1 in 9 Hewlett Houses is a very important charity to us.”
The fashion show featured the designs of Kimberly Towers of Runway Couture in Bellmore and hair and makeup was done by Salon Nouveau, also located in Bellmore.

“All of this work is being donated to the charity,” Satnick said. “We have suggested donations of $10 and people have donated generously. We have many vendors here tonight and Dakota Design Center is also launching a new concept in bridal registry, so we have many brides and brides to be here as well.”
Those vendors included Micaza Interiors, Dazzling Parties, Dortoni Bakery, Starlight Entertainment, Godiva Chocolatier, The Onyx & Breezy Foundation, Camelot Specialty Limos and more; and all showcased trendsetting concepts and unique ideas for weddings and special occasions.
“A lot of the vendors here tonight have donated raffle prizes,” Satnick said. “Other local businesses like Lamystika donated a raffle prize, Zuckerman’s Jewelry, European Wax Center…so everything goes to that particular breast cancer charity.”
