A Uniondale man is charged with felony assault and endangering the welfare of a child following a road rage assault on the Meadowbrook State Parkway in East Meadow Sunday afternoon, State Police said.

Police responded to the northbound Meadowbrook near Hempstead Turnpike around 2:11 p.m. A trooper from the Lake Success Barracks found a man who appeared to be a victim of an assault behind the wheel of a Nissan, police said.

Witnesses reported seeing a man driving a red Lexus force the Nissan off the roadway, exit his vehicle and then punch the Nissan’s driver, who was taken to Winthrop-University Hospital to be treated for broken bones in his face and a broken jaw, police said.

Witnesses were able to obtain the license plate of the Lexus and a DMV check showed its owner resided at 781 Dale Place in Uniondale, police said. Troopers responded to that address and shortly after, the Lexus pulled up to the home, police said.

The driver of the Lexus, 28-year-old Rouson Hinton, was then arrested, police said. An investigation revealed that Hinton’s 2-year-old child was inside his car during the assault, police said.
