Man Arrested Elder Scam; Claimed Victim Won Lottery: Police

ROOSEVELT, NY — A Roosevelt man was arrested in connection to an "elder scam" that took place on Wednesday.
The 71-year-old victim living in Kansas was told he won a lottery, but in order to collect his winnings the man would have to send money to a Roosevelt address, detectives said.
The victim was told fees would go toward taxes on the lottery payout, police said.

An investigation by Nassau police, assisted by UPS, coordinated an empty box delivered to 153 Debevoise Ave.
Christopher Davis, 27, arrived at the location and retrieved the package, according to police.

He was taken into custody without incident.
Davis faces a charge of third-degree grand larceny. He was issued an appearance ticket and is due back in court on March 23.
