Man Arrested In North Merrick After Standing In Traffic With A Gun, Police Say
A Roosevelt man is facing weapons charges Tuesday after police say he was impeding traffic in North Merrick while in possession of a gun.

NORTH MERRICK, NY — A Roosevelt man was arrested Monday after he was seen standing in traffic near Meadowbrook Road and found to be in possession of a gun, police said.
Nassau County police said 21-year-old Naggie Ford was arrested after an incident that took place at 9:30 a.m. Monday. At that time, police said, officers were called to Elsie Avenue near the intersection with Meadowbrook Road with reports of someone impeding the flow of traffic. Upon arrival, the officers found Ford “acting irrational” in the street, and removed him from it, police said.
Further investigation revealed that Ford was carrying a loaded silver gun, police said. Upon discovery of the gun, Ford was arrested and hospitalized for evaluation and treatment, police said.

Tuesday, Ford is scheduled for arraignment on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a firearm, police said.
