Nassau Police Charge Man With Trying To Kidnap Girl
Police say the man grabbed her and put his hand over her mouth, but she managed to fight him off and get away.
UPDATE, JULY 4: Nassau police arrested a Roosevelt man and charged him with trying to kidnap the girl.
Jarrod James, 24, was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree assault, second-degree attempted kidnapping and criminal obstruction of breathing.
Police say he will be arraigned when medically practical.

ORIGINAL STORY: A man tried to kidnap a teenage girl in Uniondale Tuesday afternoon, and police are seeking the public's help to identify him.
According to police, a 13-year-old girl was walking home after leaving Lawrence Road Middle School, located at 50 Lawrence Road in Hempstead, when she noticed a man standing in the parking lot. The man began to follow the girl, and followed her all the way to her home on Adams Street.

As the girl approached her home, the man ran up and grabbed her from behind, putting his hand over her mouth. The girl struggled and was able to momentarily escape before he grabbed her again and tried to drag her behind parked cars.
The girl managed to fight the man off again and ran into her home. He then fled on foot toward Nassau Road.
The man, pictured above, was 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing camouflage pants and a blue shirt with the letters "NYC" and "AERO" on the front.
Police ask anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS, or call 911. All callers will remain anonymous, and you could receive a cash reward if your information leads to an arrest.
