Man In Shooting At LI School Faces Attempted Murder Charge: NCPD

A dispute over landscaping at the school allegedly sparked the violent encounter.

Nassau County police released the name of the man who was arrested in connection with a shooting at Roosevelt High School yesterday.

Following a dispute over landscaping Tuesday morning, police say that Lennox London, 36, of Bauer Avenue, Roosevelt, fired three shots into the ground at Roosevelt High School. He then fled the scene to his home, police said.

London barricaded himself in his home after the incident, police said, but surrendered when officers arrived. Police obtained a warrant to search his home after his arrest, and say they found a semi-automatic handgun.

There were 40 staff members and about 100 student athletes out on the field when the shooting occurred. No one was injured.

London is charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 28 at First District Court in Hempstead.
