The office of Immigration &amp; Refugee Services is recognized by the U.S. Department of Justice to counsel, process, file, and represent clients before the US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and EOIR Immigration Court. Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. Our staff offers a wide range of social and employment services, including: • Development of a personalized self-sufficiency plan • Case management and referrals • Employment services, job search skills, and work experience opportunities • Outreach and community support • Social and cultural adjustment assistance • English language support • Help with school, benefits, and local resource navigation • Transitional services and employment retention support We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. Rooted in compassion and dignity, Catholic Charities of Long Island is committed to helping newcomers rebuild their lives and feel safe, supported, and empowered within their new community.

Long Island Swim School is the teaching arm of the nationally ranked Long Island Aquatic Club. Our Learn to Swim programs create strong, safe, and confident swimmers for life. With locations in Garden City and Syosset we train over 2,000 children each week at every swim level from Beginner to Olympian. Long Island Swim School offers swim lessons for children ages 2 - 14years old. Nassau County police released the name of the man who was arrested in connection with a shooting at Roosevelt High School yesterday.<a href="https://patch.com/new-york/merrick/shooting-long-island-school-causes-lockdown" target="_blank">Following a dispute over landscaping Tuesday morning</a>, police say that Lennox London, 36, of Bauer Avenue, Roosevelt, fired three shots into the ground at Roosevelt High School. He then fled the scene to his home, police said. London barricaded himself in his home after the incident, police said, but surrendered when officers arrived. Police obtained a warrant to search his home after his arrest, and say they found a semi-automatic handgun.There were 40 staff members and about 100 student athletes out on the field when the shooting occurred. No one was injured.London is charged with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Aug. 28 at First District Court in Hempstead.
