Here are the top stories in Merrick today:

  1. Ed Mangano, the former County Executive for Nassau County, has been denied a new trial for his corruption conviction and is set to be sentenced in March. Mangano was charged with fraud and bribery alongside his wife, Linda Mangano, who was also denied a second trial. She was found guilty of lying to the FBI and obstruction of justice. The couple faces up to 20 years behind bars. (News 12 Connecticut)
  2. Friday saw snow intensify in the morning, but it didn't linger throughout the day. Merrick received a total of 7.7 inches of snow from the morning storm. Other areas in the region received as much as 9.3 inches of snow and as little as 7.5 inches. (Merrick Patch)

  • The North Merrick Public Library had a delayed opening on Friday due to inclement weather. The library was able to open its doors by 12:00 p.m. (Facebook)
