🌱 Massapequa Motorcyclist Killed In Crash + Assault Arrest At Adelphi

Here are the top five stories in Merrick today:

  1. Police made a sexual assault arrest at Adelphi University on Sunday. Spokespeople for the Garden City school aren't releasing much info on the incident out of consideration for the students and local community. Likewise, Garden City police aren't releasing details on the arrest, either. (Patch)
  2. A pedestrian was seriously injured in a Nassau County crash on Friday, April 15. Police say a man was crossing South Franklin Street near Elm Street at 2:15 p.m. when he was hit by a 2019 Nissan being driven by a 36-year-old woman. The victim is listed in critical but stable condition. (Patch)
  3. A Massapequa man was killed while driving his motorcycle on the Southern State Parkway on Saturday, April 16. The single-vehicle wreck occurred when the as-yet unidentified driver crossed three lanes of traffic, striking a median guard rail and a light pole. (Daily Voice)
  4. Spring is incoming, and there's a new place to soak up the sun. Take a look at the courtyard renovation of Irving's Pastrami Shop in Farmingdale via Patch. The owner said he's considering other additions as well, including a possible putting green.
  5. Police say they found a man in possession of a firearm during a North Valley Stream traffic stop. The incident happened early Saturday, April 16, after police stopped a vehicle driving east with a door open on Dutch Broadway. A Raven Arms MP-25 pistol was found in driver Neil Belcher's pocket.
