It has become readily apparent that Common Core was engaged too swiftly and with too little foresight. Unfortunately, today’s re-election of the incumbent members of the Board of Regents does little to address the issues facing our education system. Instead, we continue down the wrong path. Rather than addressing the serious issues before the Regents, we now have elected the same people who helped implement this flawed system to fix the system.
We must do more to prepare our students for their futures, and those who created the system are not able to bring about the necessary changes. I believe we need a fresh take to move our state forward; unfortunately, we failed today.
