Merrick Avenue Middle School Hosts National Geographic Geography Bee

Congratulations to the winner eighth-grader Ryan Kaylie!

The Merrick Avenue Middle School (MAMS) Social Studies Department recently held its annual National Geographic Geography Bee.

A total of 75 students participated in the bee, which had been determined by preliminary rounds that took place in each Social Studies classroom.

Eighth-graders Ryan Kaylie and Justin Turkiewicz of Ms. Lucrezia Colangelo’s class were the bee’s final two contestants.

After several rounds, Kaylie was declared the winner.

Kaylie will have the opportunity to compete in New York State’s Geography Bee.
