Merrick Budget Meeting, Candidates Forum On May 7

Residents will have a chance to learn details about the proposed budget and meet those running for the Board of Education.

MERRICK, NY - From the Merrick School District: The Merrick School District will host the annual Budget Information Hearing on Tuesday, May 7 at Birch School, beginning at 7 p.m. Following the budget hearing, at 8 p.m., the Merrick PTA will host a Board of Education Candidates Forum, also at Birch School. All residents are invited to attend both meetings.

Merrick school officials will be on hand to present the proposed 2018-19 school year budget and residents will have an opportunity to ask questions. Information regarding the proposed budget can be found on the district website at www.merrick.k12.ny.us.

At 8 p.m. the PTA Candidates Forum will provide candidates running for the Merrick Board of Education with an opportunity to introduce themselves to the community. All candidates running for the Board of Education have been invited to attend this forum. This year, five candidates are running for three seats on the
Merrick Board of Education. Terms are three years, beginning July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021. Candidates run at large; the three candidates who receive the most votes will be elected to serve on the Board.

Voting for the proposed Merrick School District budget and the Merrick Board of Education will take place on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Norman J. Levy Lakeside School, 7 a.m.– 9 p.m.
