It is with deep regret that the Merrick Gables Cafe's last day of business was February 1, 2014. Opening up a small food business is always a tricky endeavor with all the competition out there, especially with the larger franchises and their financial backing to sustain them through the slower times.
Every effort was made to create a menu that would appeal to many folks with its offerings of delicious crepes, panini, salads and homemade soups. Loyal customers loved its simple fare and homey atmosphere and came back time and time again. However the numbers were just not there to sustain business so, after six months of business, the Merrick Gables Cafe, reluctantly, had to close its doors.
It was a difficult choice for owner, Brian Sztabnik, to give up on his dream and close the business but he wishes the many other new businesses opening up on Merrick Road and the surrounding area much success and good fortune.
The Merrick Gables Cafe is located at 2203 Merrick Road, Merrick.
