Merrick School Budget Approved

Merrick residents approved the budgets for both the Merrick and North Merrick school districts Tuesday night.

In the Merrick School District, voters approved the $51,148,849 1,146 to 311. It came with a tax levy increase of 2.9 percent.

Residents also reelected incumbent trustees Sigal Negrin and Gina Piskin to the Board of Education. Piskin received 941 votes and Negrin received 872.

Voters in the North Merrick School District also voted to approve their budget 993 to 527. The $33,107,869 budget has a 3.37 percent tax levy increase.

In addition, residents voted for three people to fill seats on the Board of Education. Megan Ryan received 1,193 votes, Robert Crowley received 881 and Steve Enella received 789.
