Merrick School District Names New Director of Student Services

Salvatore Dossena will take over for the departed Eric Arlin.

Salvatore Dossena has been named the new Director of Student Services for the Merrick Union Free School District.

Dossena replaces Eric Arlin, who left the district to fill the same post for the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District.

Dossena received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Loyola College, Masters of Science in Elementary and Special Education from Adelphi University and his Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision from Baruch College.

On June 15, 2010, the Merrick Board of Education voted unanimously to appoint Dossena as the Assistant Principal of the Birch School. 

On Sept. 10, the Merrick Board of Education appointed Salvatore Dossena as the new Director of Student Services. Dossena will transition to the Director’s position as the Merrick Board of Education looks secure his replacement at the Birch School.

Prior to his tenure at Birch, Dossena served as an Assistant Principal at P.S. 182 in Jamaica. He also taught in P.S. 142 and at the Bank Street School for Children.
