Merrick School Placed On Lockdown Due To Police Outside: Prinicipal

MERRICK, NY — Students and teachers were told to shelter in place due to police activity outside the Chatterton School on Merrick Avenue.

Principal Dana Bermas sent a note to families alerting them of the situation Tuesday afternoon.

"All students and staff are safe inside our school building and are accounted for," Bermas said.

She said all non-emergency visits are suspended during the shelter-in-place. The campus was also closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic, Bermas said.
