Merrick Schools Hire New Assistant Superintendent

Jen Buscemi is replacing Dr. Christine Grucci, who retired in November.

The Merrick School District has welcomed Jennifer Buscemi as the new assistant superintendent for business. Buscemi brings extensive experience as a school business official, having served as school business administrator in the Sag Harbor School District and executive director of finance and operations for the West Babylon School District.

Prior to working in education, Buscemi worked as a principal examiner for the Office of the New York State Comptroller and as a tax auditor for the New York State Department of Taxation.

"I look forward to working with the board of education, Superintendent of Schools Dr. [Dominick] Palma and the administrative team to provide the best resources to our students so that they continue to enjoy a high quality educational experience," Buscemi said. "I will work hard to maintain all the wonderful programs the district currently offers, while also working to enhance educational opportunities for all students. In the coming weeks, I look forward to meeting and working in partnership with my new colleagues as well as all the members of the Merrick school community."
