Merrick Second-Graders Become 'Expert Tour Guides'
The students read, studied and researched their topics to present to visitors.
In the Merrick School District, Birch Elementary School second-graders became expert tour guides, giving their classmates a tour of their non-fiction museum.
During their “Becoming Experts” non-fiction reading unit, Ms. Doheny and Ms. DePalma’s students became experts on a topic of their choosing.
After reading, studying and researching their topics, students presented their findings at their desks to educate their visitors.

The museum included exhibits about trains, sea otters, puppies and volcanoes.
