Merrick Students Become Little Mechanics
They learned the basics of design in a fun STEM class.
First-graders at Levy Lakeside School recently assembled motorized cars with Legos during a lesson from members of Bricks for Kidz, an educational organization devoted to teaching the fundamentals of STEM – science, technology, engineering and math – in an engaging and creative way.
Divided into teams, the young students applied their reading, collaborative and cognitive skills to follow step-by-step instructions to build the cars.
Once the construction was complete, the students tested the speed of their vehicles by driving them across the classroom floor and their desks.
