Merrick Students Bring Thanksgiving to the Needy
Birch Avenue students packaged many boxes of donations for families at the INN.
In the Merrick School District, the Birch School’s Students Against Destructive Decision club packaged 35 boxes of food for the Interfaith Nutrition Network in Hempstead.
All students, teachers, administrators and faculty were asked to donate canned goods or nonperishable food items including pasta, soup, vegetables, jars of sauce, chicken broth and stuffing to the SADD club’s Thanksgiving food drive.
During their recess time, fourth- and fifth-graders volunteered to package and organize each box to contain equal representations of all donations for families to enjoy a hearty Thanksgiving dinner.
