Merrick Students Donate 1,800 Sandwiches
The sandwiches were prepared Feb. 13 for donation to nonprofit The River Fund.
MERRICK, NY. — Norman J. Levy Lakeside School students gave an early Valentine’s Day Gift Friday, preparing 1,876 sandwiches for donation to The River Fund.
The sandwiches were made with donated cold cuts and bread, provided by the student council and the parent teacher association (PTA). They were donated to The River Fund, a Richmond Hill, Queens-based nonprofit that seeks to address poverty through volunteerism and donations. Specifically, The River Fund uses its efforts to tackle food insecurity in the area it serves.
For members of the Lakeside School community, the opportunity it presented students was simple.
