Merrick to Welcome New Retail Store

Although Merrick asked for a Chipotle or Baja Fresh to take over the space left by the closure of the Getty Gas Station on Merrick Road, it seems that the area will be welcoming a new retail store.

"That location was sold in December," said Darrell Sealy of Commercial Retail Associates, which owns the property. 

Sealy told Patch that there would be a retail store going into the space, but nothing regarding when the store would open has been announced.

Sealy was unsure of what sort of retail store would be taking over the remnants of the gas station and property manager Melissa Nader explained that she could not release the information because she isn't sure if the client gave notice to their landlord. Even the category, she said, would give them away and allow their landlords to narrow down their prospectives.

"Unfortunately, I can't release the name of who is going there yet," she said, "but I can tell you that it will be a retail store."
