Merrick Whiz Kid: Angelique D'Alessandro

Highlighting kids that inspire the community.

This week, Merrick Patch chose Angelique D'Alessandro to be the Whiz Kid!

  • Name: Angelique D'Alessandro
  • Age: 13
  • School: Merrick Avenue Middle School
  • Key Accomplishment: D'Alessandro was accepted into the Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth for academically gifted children.
  • Key to Awesomeness: D'Alessandro, an  honors student at MAMS, had to take the regular SAT's, and score highly to be accepted into the Johns Hopkins program. Only a certain number of children internationally are accepted into the program. The program was set up to allow children who are academically talented to immerse themselves in their academic passions. Johns Hopkins runs this program in various colleges throughout the United States and  Hong Kong. D'Alessandro will be studying college level existentialism at a University in Pennsylvania for three weeks this summer.
