Merrick's Annual Kid's Spring Festival to Include City Alley, Keri Wirth, and Spin DJ Academy
On Top of Great Music, Kids Can Enjoy Rides, Games, Food, and More!
April, 2016 (Merrick, NY) — From Friday April 29th – Sunday May 1st, join the Merrick Chamber of Commerce and Merrick’s local merchants and businesses in celebrating the annual Kid’s Spring Festival! The three day festival features kid-friendly rides, games, food, and more!
Located outside of the Merrick LIRR station between Hewett and Merrick Ave North, the Kid’s Festival will take place from 11am to 6pm on Friday and 11am to 10pm on Saturday and Sunday.
The fun starts Friday night with rides by Newton Shows and WBAB welcoming kids to come and DJ at the gazebo! Saturday and Sunday, the excitement continues with local vendors, crafters, merchants, food and refreshments! Live music performances will include Keri Wirth, who runs a music education program for children called “Me and You Music,” rock sensations City Alley, and the prominent Spin DJ Academy will present some of their top acts like Honey Badger, Mob Grinder, The Pantry, Nexus, Matt Weiss & more

The Kid’s Festival not only brings the community of Merrick together, but it is held each year support a great cause. The funds from the festival go to the Merrick Chamber’s scholarship program which gives six awards annually to a graduating senior from each of the three high schools in the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District. It is one of the largest such programs in the state operated by a Chamber of Commerce group. The award recipients are chosen by each of the high schools and given to a deserving student.

With so much support from the Merrick Community, this year’s Kid’s Festival is undeniably set up for a great turnout!
More About City Alley:
City Alley is composed of Joe DiGiglio, Matt Cusack and Chris Insignares. Derived from childhood friends, Joe and Matt, the band is rooted in their love of music and instrumentation. Together, they created the foundation for how the band sounds today. Joe is self-taught immersing himself in his vocal abilities and transforming songs into his unique style. Matt studied music throughout his life and played in other bands before reuniting with Joe and former bandmate, Chris. From their classic rock influences and fusing new styles, City Alley draws from personal experiences and reality to drive passion through their emotional lyrics and uniquely-mixed harmonies.
More About Keri Wirth and “Me and You Music”:
Me and You Music by Keri Wirth is a musical program based around her original songs that calm and inspire children and parents. (A CD of her original songs comes with the class.) As a parent of a 7-year old (Penelope) and a 2-year old (Montgomery), Keri finds music to be a great tool in comforting communicating in a positive way. Music is a powerful facilitator for communication and learning. She is excited to share her curriculum with other parents eager to explore music with their children.
