- A Hempstead teen has been missing for nearly a week, reports AJ Jondonero. Jamell Harris, 13, went missing from Terrace Avenue residence on Wednesday, Feb. 16. Click over to the article to see a photo and description of the teen and learn how to report possible sightings. (pix11)
- Intervening in a domestic violence situation in Elmont on Feb. 19 led to the injury of a Nassau County police officer. Police responded to an apartment after Garry Henriques, 33, allegedly hit his girlfriend in the face several times. While attempting to detain Henriques, one officer injured his knee. Henriques was taken into custody. (Daily Voice)
- A Hempstead Branch train struck a man lying on the tracks on Tuesday, Feb. 22, according to MTA representatives. The incident occurred around 7 a.m. near Forest Hills. The man died at the scene. (Daily Voice)
- Celebrate Black History Month with the Town of Hempstead virtually on Feb. 25 at 6 p.m. The evening's festivities will be led by Senior Councilwoman Dorothy L. - Sunrise Mall has stopped renewing tenants' leases, reports Torey N. Parrish. The move may indicate a desire to redevelop the site, but Oyster Bay officials aren't specifying whether or not they have something in the works. (Newsday; subscription)
