Moe's Southwest Grill Could be Possiblity in Merrick
See what it would take to get this eatery in town.

In a recent vacancy poll, it seemed as if burritos and salsa has been on the mind for many Merokeans.
A Moe's Southwest Grill topped the demands, with 78 percent of responders voting to add the eatery to the Merrick business district.
So is it possible for a Moe's to come to Merrick? According to Ashley, media relations specialist from Moe's Corporate Headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., all that is needed is someone looking to establish a Moe's in the town.

"Moe's is a franchise system, so if someone is looking to purchase a Moe's, then we will work with them on developing the location," she said.
Although the space near the East Bay Animal Hospital may not be ideal, there are other space up for grabs in Merrick, including Exotic Paws and King's Foot Spa.

However, according to Randy Shotland, president of the Merrick Chamber of Commerce, he isn't sure that Moe's would benefit the Merrick area.
"To be honest with you, I don't think we need another restaurant of that nature in the area," he said. "For southwestern food we already R.S. Jones, we already have the Outback, we already have a lot of our local restaurants. And as for the fast food angle, the truth is that Merrick has too many fast food-style places; between McDonald’s, Burger King and all the other southwestern and burger places, why do we need yet another one like that?”
