Nassau Duo Arrested After Illegal Gambling Machines Found In Businesses: PD

Two men were arrested in Roosevelt Monday night after police found illegal gambling machines at their establishments.

ROOSEVELT, NY — Two men are facing criminal charges Tuesday morning after police found illegal gambling machines and cash in their businesses Monday night, police said.

Nassau County police said 33-year-old Freeport resident Erick Hernandez Martinez and 63-year-old Uniondale resident Rafael Rodriguez were arrested after a license premise inspection Monday night.

According to police, Martinez was arrested after an investigation at Good Food & Shake in Roosevelt turned up two illegal electronic gambling machines and $1,276 cash. Martinez is now charged with possession of gambling devices, unlicensed public assembly, disorderly premise and operating without a valid New York State liquor license, police said. He was released with an appearance ticket dated July 20, police said.

Next, Rodriguez was arrested after a similar investigation at Roosevelt’s Stop & Go Food Market, police said. This investigation revealed four illegal gambling machines and $390 cash, police said. Rodriguez is charged with possession of gambling devices, unlicensed public assembly and disorderly premise, police said. He was also issued a July 20 return ticket, police said.
