Here are the top four stories in Merrick today:

  1. A Hempstead teen has been reported missing. Heimy Rodezno-Flores, 15, was last seen around 2 a.m. at her home on Friday, March 18. Police issued an alert to the community later that day.   2. Nassau County guns are headed to Ukraine. County Executive Bruce Blakeman announced that a first shipment of donated guns to Ukraine went out Friday. Blakeman teamed with Jerry Sperduto, the owner of SP Firearms Unlimited and an association of Ukrainian Americans to make the donation of 420 weapons. (WABC-TV)
  3. Bellmore students have a little less hair these days. Students at Mepham High School joined in the "Chop Your Locks for Charity" event on Wednesday, March 16, raising $11,000. The money is set to benefit "Courage for Carsyn," which supports a cancer patient with connections to the school. (Patch)
  4. A man stands accused of a DWI and crashing into multiple unoccupied cars in E. Farmingdale on the morning of Friday, March 18. The 26-year-old driver was arrested, and his 50-year-old passenger was taken to the hospital with injuries. (News 12 Bronx)
