Nassau Man Arrested After Failed Robbery: Police
Police say he pointed a gun at a friend, but she wouldn't give him her things.

Nassau police arrested a Freeport man for trying to rob a friend at gunpoint ealier this week.
According to police, Taffarie Haughton, 18, of East Seaman Street, Freeport, went to the Roosevelt home of a friend and asked to speak to her at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 5.. When she came to the door, police say Haughton pulled out a black handgun with a red laser, pointed it at her head and demanded her belongings. The woman refused, and police say Haughton grabbed her cell phone out of her hand and broke it on the ground. Police say he then fled on his bicycle.
When Haughton arrived home on Oct. 6, he was placed under arrest by police.

Haughton is charged with first-degree robbery and third-degree criminal mischief. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
