Nassau Man Flees, Then Attacks Officers: Police

Police say he tried to avoid being pulled over, then attacked the officers when he finally stopped.

A Uniondale man was arrested Saturday night after police say he fled officers trying to pull him over, then attacked them during his arrest.

According to police, officers attempted to stop a black 2013 Honda traveling south on Chester Street in Uniondale at 6:55 p.m. for multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. Police say the driver, Andre Madden, 27, of Aracadia Lane, refused to stop and kept driving aggressively while officers followed. Madden finally stopped his car, police say, and the officers conducted and investigation, during which Madden became uncooperative and started striking both officers in their heads with his elbows. Madden was subdued and placed under arrest.

One officer had a cut to his cheek and swelling on his face and head. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The other officer had cuts to his lips and pain in his face. He was treated at the scene. Madden was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
