Police say officers pulled the car over for a routine stop and found the loaded gun in the man's waistband.

ROOSEVELT, NY — A Roosevelt man was arrested Tuesday night after police say officers found a handgun on him during a routine traffic stop.
According to police, detectives pulled over a car on East Clinton Avenue, near Roberts Place, in Roosevelt at 7:50 p.m. Tuesday. As they approached the car, police say the detectives smelled marijuana. The detectives removed Eric Rizo, 19, of 2nd Place, from the car, and police say he reached toward his waistband. Police say there was a large bulge in his pants, which was a loaded 9mm semiautomatic pistol. Rizo was arrested without incident.
Rizo is charged with criminal possession of a firearm and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is scheduled to be arraigned today.
