Nassau Man Robbed 12 Stores Across the County: Police

An Elmont man was arrested Monday and charged in a string of a dozen burglaries across Nassau County.

According to police, detectives saw Eric Burnett, 50, of Eureka Avenue, Elmont, climb over a fence and enter into the rear yard of the Associated Supermarket, located at 301 Jerusalem Ave. in Hempstead, with the intent to forcibly enter and steal merchandise. Detectives were able to arrest Burnett without incident as he climbed back over the fence and attempt to flee in his vehicle.

Police say that further investigation revealed that Burnett was responsible for other pattern burglaries that occurred on:

• July 08 – Pat’s Farm, located at 1142 Merrick Ave., Merrick
• July 31 – ABC Farms, located at 1285 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont
• Aug. 09 – Galleria Pizzeria, located at 1339 Merrick Ave., Merrick
• Aug. 12 – Park Place Restaurant, located at 41 Covert Ave., Floral Park
• Aug. 16 – Wine Gallery, located at 270 Nassau Boulevard, West Hempstead
• Aug. 16 – Bagel on the Square, located at 529 Franklin Ave., Franklin Square
• Aug. 16 – Ralph’s Italian Ices, located at 531 Franklin Ave., Franklin Square
• Sept. 19 – International Café, located at 322 Bedford Ave., Bellmore
• Sept. 23 – Uncle Bacallas, located at 2370 Jericho Turnpike, Garden City
• Oct. 01 – Alpine Restaurant, located at 11 Franklin Ave., Franklin Square
• Oct. 02 – Gilbert’s Liquors, located at 1160 Merrick Ave., Merrick

Burnett is being charged with 12 counts of third degree burglary. He is scheduled be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Wednesday.
