Nassau Man Robbed Convenience Store At Gunpoint: Police

Police say they used video and DNA evidence to identify and arrest the man.

A Valley Stream man was arrested yesterday and charged with robbing a Merrick convenience store at gunpoint in January.

According to police, Rahtae Wilson, 31, of South Cottage Street, entered Fast Break convenience store, at 1066 Merrick Ave., at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4. Police say he approached the counter, pulled out a handgun and demanded cash from the store clerk. The clerk complied, and police say Wilson then fled the store.

After an investigation involving video surveillance and DNA evidence, police say detectives identified Wilson and placed him under arrest.

Wilson is charged with first-degree robbery. He is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
