Nassau Man Sentenced For Shooting Into House Party, Wounding 2
Ahkhazyah Wright was kicked out of the party after following a woman into the bathroom. Then he came back and shot two people.
A Nassau County man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday for attempted murder stemming from a shooting at a house party in 2017.
Ahkhazyah Wright, 19, of Roosevelt, was convicted on June 18 of three counts of second-degree attempted murder, two counts of first-degree assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He is now facing two decades behind bars.
“This defendant’s violent outburst could have killed his innocent victims, and his reckless conduct left them with permanent injuries,” said Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas. “This lengthy prison term ensures that he will pay a heavy price for the physical and emotional injuries he caused.”

Around 2:40 a.m. on July 23, 2017, an 18-year-old woman entered the bathroom at a home on Maple Avenue in Uniondale during a house party, and then Wright also went in. The woman called for help, and three men heard her. Kyle Richard, 20, Sulaiman Ania, 19, and Jewell Stewart, 19, opened the bathroom door and forced Wright out of the house.
A few minutes later, people saw Wright on the front porch of the house. He was confronted by other party goers, and then pulled out a handgun and fire multiple times. He shot Kyle Richard in both legs. A bullet also struck Michael Abiola in the arm after he had just pulled up in his car.
