Our organization provides essential support to Ukrainian Humanitarian parolees through the Ukraine Supplemental Appropriation to Resettlement Agencies (USARA) Program. Through USARA, we help individuals and families achieve stability, economic independence, and successful integration into the community. We serve Ukrainian citizens paroled into the U.S., as well as non-Ukrainians who resided in Ukraine and were paroled into the U.S. between February 24, 2022 and September 30, 2024. A Roosevelt man was arrested Thursday evening after police say he threw a handgun out of his car while fleeing officers trying to pull him over.According to police, officers on patrol saw a black 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse fail to maintain its lane while heading west on East Pennywood Avenue in Roosevelt just before 6 p.m. The officers turned on their lights and tried to initiate a traffic stop, but the Mitsubishi kept going. Officers followed, and police say they saw objects being thrown out of the car. A short time later, the car struck a telephone pole and stopped. The driver, Cameron Morgan, 19, of Hudson Avenue, was placed under arrest.During the investigation, police say a handgun was thrown from the car.Two passengers in the car were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.Morgan is charged with second- and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm, tampering with physical evidence and multiple traffic violations. He is scheduled to be arraigned today in First District Court in Hempstead.Photo: Shutterstock
