Nevica Salon Joins Fight Against Cancer

Nevica West Salon in Merrick has joined the fight against childhood cancer.

Nevica became involved last year when they held a “Cuts For a Cure” event, where the stylists gave haircuts in exchange for a donation. The events impact on their clients revealed how many of them were personally affected by the disease.

“We actually have someone on staff whose son is a cancer survivor,” Nevica Owner Colleen Coyle said. “We’ve heard from a lot of our own clients with children or know someone with children that are battling cancer.”

This prompted a follow-up event, “Treatments for a Cure”.

Nevica Salon is offering the Milbon Inphenom Treatment, a quick, five-step in salon treatment designed to repair dry damaged hair from the inside. The Inphenom Treatment leaves the hair looking shinier, brighter and with a softer feel.

The treatment retails for $60, however Nevica is requesting a minimum donation of $25, which will be passed on to the hospital of the client’s choice, either Stony Brook Sunrise Fund or Winthrop Cancer Center For Kids.

The promotion goes until May 1.

“We thought it was something that really hit home for us,” she added. “So we wanted to give back.”
