Nevica to Bring Full-Service Salon Experience to Merrick
The trendy, new salon recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate it's grand opening.
When Laura Decchio, owner of Nevica Salon of Islip, decided to expand into Nassau County, she knew that she had the right tools at her disposal to replicate that success once again right here in Merrick.
”It’s a beautiful salon and I have an awesome staff,” Decchio said of her new 2019 Merrick Road location. “We’ve been here about nine months. We started out with a location in Islip where I was a partner and when my partner retired, I bought him out and took over the business. So far I’ve been very happy and it’s been a big adventure, so I decided to expand and open another location, and here we are.”
Nevica Salon of Merrick, which recently held their grand opening ribbon cutting, is a full-service salon that offers haircuts, colors, highlights, corrective colors, straighteners, relaxers, perms, facials, manicures, pedicures, scalp massages and more.

In addition, one feature that will leave many customers taken aback is the elaborate design and layout of the salon itself, a feature that Decchio said is vital to providing people the maximum potential out of their visit.
“The layout is very important, because we need to flow and function very well for the public,” she said. “So, we have a cutting floor for our junior stylists, and then a main cutting floor for our senior stylists. In the back you can get a manicure or a pedicure and we have a separate side on the salon for coloring, because a lot of people like to have privacy. But there’s a good flow through the salon so you can get to any of the areas that you need. It’s been a great success.”

Nevica Salon recently held a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their grand opening, a ceremony that was attended by the Merrick Chamber of Commerce and several local politicians, including 19th District Assemblyman David McDonough (R-Merrick), who welcomed Decchio into the community.
“New businesses are the lifeblood that we need,” he said. “One of the programs that I’m involved in is developing new businesses – jobs are what it’s all about. This is a beautiful example of someone that’s really put something into this and I know it’s going to help the Merrick area.”
When it came to choosing the location for her new salon, Decchio said that Merrick just leapt out at her as the perfect spot. With her seasoned staff of hairstylists, she feels that Nevica Salon can offer style-conscious Merokeans a wonderful experience.
“I love the town and I just fell in love with the public because everyone is so kind and outspoken and warm,” she said. “Nevica Salon offers great services, and my staff is very seasoned and very well-educated. Plus, they are very passionate about their craft, and that’s what I love the most.”
