Here are the top five stories today in Merrick:
- On Saturday, we welcomed the BLIZZARD of '22. The storm dropped as much as a foot of snow in Nassau and 2 feet in Suffolk County. Conditions should warm up by Thursday. Stay warm and safe out there, folks! (News 12 Bronx)
- Find out what Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman had to say about the storm conditions over at CBS New York. Blakeman warned residents not to develop a false sense of security, even if the snow appears to slow down. Downed power lines, slippery roadways and high winds continue to present dangers. He encouraged folks to check on their neighbors if possible. According to News 12 Bronx, the storm has claimed one life already — a snowplow driver discovered a woman deceased in her car in Uniondale early Saturday.
- A train hit an unoccupied vehicle in Farmingdale on Saturday morning. The accident happened at the Clinton Street Grade Crossing when an MTA patrol train was traveling the tracks. There were no passengers aboard the train. (News 12 Long Island)
- Like beer but can't do wheat? New York's first gluten-free brewery is set to open in Farmingdale in a couple months. Necromantic, coming in March, will be one of just 17 dedicated gluten-free breweries in the entire nation. (Long Island Press)
- An Island Park man was arrested in Long Beach on Thursday. Arthur Corso, 58, faces cocaine-related charges. This is his third arrest for drug charges. (Daily Voice)
