Not Just Books: This Week's Library Events

There's plenty going on at the Merrick and North Merrick libraries this week.

Running out of ways to keep the kids busy this summer?

Or do you just need to beat the heat for a little while? If so, both the Merrick and North Merrick libraries offer plenty of opportunities to keep the kids, and the adults busy.

Monday night, bring your tots and pre-schoolers down to the Merrick Library for Tots Night Out at 7 p.m. for craft making and socializing.

On Tuesday, any teens interested in volunteering at the North Merrick Library can attend a Teens and Tots Training Session. Kids entering grades 3-6 are welcome to a Seascape Painting class at the Merrick Library.

On Wednesday, teens can learn to make fresh veggie sushi from scratch, with chef Robert Kass, at the Merrick Library. There is a $5 fee for this class.

On Thursday, the Merrick Library is offering a defensive driving class at 7 p.m. Love Chinese takeout? Then head over to the North Merrick Library on Thursday night for a Chinese cooking class.

On Friday, Adelphi University's Outreach program will be at the North Merrick Library from 10:15 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., offering free hearing screenings. At the Merrick Library, keep cool and catch a flick at 2 p.m., when they show the weekly Friday Film.
